Earlier his week, the Western Regional NPP Organizer joined the Regional Chairman, Mr. Francis Ndede Siah and some regional executives Of the ruling New Patriotic Party , NPP at the Sekondi High Court in view of the pending Jomoro Case.
The respondent, MP for Jomoro Constituency, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey and her lawyers failed to show up at the Court Registrars Office.
She was to produce her documents of renunciation for inspection but failed to appear at the registrar.
The court ruled that the MP for Jomoro must produce evidence of her renounced dual citizenship on their previous sitting.
The court gave the order to the MP to produce the document within 10 days as proof of renouncing her Ivorian citizenship which was due today but refused to show up.
This came after a resident of Nuba-Mpataba in the Jomoro District filed a writ at the Sekondi High Court challenging her citizenship.
According to the applicant, Joshua Emuah Kofie, the MP was not qualified to contest as the people’s representative in the country’s legislative assembly.
He alleged that the MP was holding multiple nationalities –American and Ivorian citizenships, which violates the 1992 Constitution.
However, the MP has denied having American citizenship but had Ivorian citizenship which she said she had renounced.
Mrs. Affo-Toffey said she renounced her Ivorian citizenship before filing to contest the 2020 parliamentary election so the Sekondi High Court with its power Charges the MP Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey to produce documents of renunciation.
