Earlier today I commissioned two community Mining schemes at Mmapehia in the Ahanta west Municipality and Kwabere in the Jomoro District Assembly of the western region on behalf of the sector Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor.
I took the opportunity to reiterate government’s commitment to fighting illegal mining and efforts to restore our water bodies and forest reserves.
I noted most importantly, that the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo led government is not against mining activities but is against the illegalities that threaten the sustainability of our environment.
I also later commissioned a commodity monitor – a technology that enables 95% of gold recovery in mining processes.
The two projects commissioned today are estimated to create about 6,000 jobs directly and indirectly.
I pledged government’s non-partisan support towards the development of mining communities and urged traditional and community leaders to utilize these opportunities for the common good of their people.
Joining me for the commissioning these two projects were the Municipal Chief Executive of Ahanta West Municipality, Hon. Henrietta Mary Eyison, Municipal Chief Executive of jomoro District Assembly, Hon. Ernest Kowfie, CEO of Mincom, Martin Ayisi,
MP and Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon Ebenezer Kojo kum , the Chief Director of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Prof. Patrick Agbesinyale, the Western Regional Minister,
Hon Kwabena O Darko and the Paramount Chief of Upper Dixcove and other dignitaries.
