He met the Executives of the Ghana National Association of Small Scale miners (GNASSM) today July 22nd, 2021 in Kumasi to discuss pertinent issues concerning the Small Scale Mining Industry in Ghana.






He reiterated government’s support for the sector and the goal of ensuring the adoption of sustainable mining practices that will safeguard our forest reserves and river bodies.






He used the opportunity to announce an upcoming annual award scheme to honor small scale mining companies employing safe and sustainable mining practices in their operations. This, government believes will encourage stakeholders to abide by regulatory standards.






The small scale mining industry contributes enormously to the country’s economic value and provides both direct and indirect employment to a vast number of Ghanaians. Government will continue to support the industry in diverse ways to ensure the desired growth.











Also in attendance were MR. Martin Ayisi, Ag.CEO minerals commission, Mr Ahedor Nelson, Director of small scale mining at minerals commission and Mr. Peter Awuah , technical Director at Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
