An accident which occurred on March 19, 2021 around Fijai in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis between a truck and an Uber car left one dead.
The incident occurred at about 1 am around Champion Oil. According to an eye witness, the Uber car was in his lane when the truck driver came colliding and dragging it along a few metres. The Uber driver, Michael Boabeng, who was 27 years of age died on the spot.
Speaking to an eye witness on Skyy Power 93.5FM, he explained that, Michael was in his lane heading towards the east. The truck driver was sleeping when he veered towards Michaels. After colliding, the truck dragged the car some metres ahead. He had to redirect his truck and stop around BoiBoison. The Fire Service came around and it took them about 2 hours to get Michael out of the car. The road was full of blood. it is the fault the truck driver.
The mother of the deceased also gave her account on Skyy Power 93.5FM about how she heard the news, the time and how she reacted to it.
She said, “I was in my house when people came calling me at about 1 am this morning, I asked them what was the problem and the person told me Michael is dead. A big car has collided with his car and he died on the spot. So I sent some of my brothers to go and check on the incident to know about the current situation at the moment”.
“Michael is a good son, he is respectful and a good Christian. He completed Secondary School and couldn’t continue with his studies so he ventured into teaching and other jobs to support himself. I can say, God gave him to me. I came from Accra this morning and I decided to call him to come pick me, but I decided not to disturb him and came home with a taxi. Not long ago, someone came running to me my son is dead”. She added.
