The Western Regional Minister, Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has stated that travel time from Takoradi to Tarkwa will possibly reduce to 30 minutes. Read also W/R 6 Effiakuma young boys arrested for attempting to sell alleged stolen taxi
Speaking on the Jolly Breakfast Show on Skyy Power 93.5FM on Monday, August 30, the Minister made it know that the contractors for the construction of the road have already set up their camps at vantage points ready to commence work.
The Tarkwa-Takoradi road is one of the most deplorable roads in the country which has been a major concern for residents for some years now. Read also New Music – Pastor Charles Mensah Jnr out with a new single.
Commuters of that road take hours to travel in minute journeys as the Minister believes the new project will shorten travel time considerably.
Also, the road will be a dual carriage per the Minister’s statement to make it possibly traffic-free and reduce travel time between the two cities to 30 minutes. Mr Okyere Darko then noted that the project will begin in the first week of September 2021, as preparations are underway for immediate work.
Also, preparation is underway for road projects in Wassa Amenfi West District especially Samreboi as the Minister assured the necessary measures have been put in place for the project to commence.
However, the region should look forward to more developmental projects such as the construction of an Interchange at the Paa Grant roundabout after the PTC’s has been completed and six new hospitals from the Agenda 111 initiative according to the Regional Minister.
