Yesterday, September 19, 2020, I attended the 12th Congregation ceremony of George Grant University of Mines and Technology at Tarkwa in the Western Region.
A ceremony in my honest view gave meaning to the learning and sacrifices made by graduands whiles they were on campus.
I was happy to note that, the university has steadily progressed in terms of infrastructure in line with government’s commitment to ensuring conducive teaching and learning environment.
I was delighted to see that the School of Petroleum Studies Building Complex which is strategic and dear to the heart of Western Region, and the 5-Storey New Administration block are almost complete for use.
The expansion of infrastructural works will aid accommodate students from the Free SHS. The university also through its collaboration with Ministry of Railways Development has established a satellite campus at Essikado known as Umat School of Railways and Infrastructure Development.
I congratulated the graduands, commended their efforts and wished them the very best of success.
In attendance was the Chancellor, His Excellency John Agyekum Kuffour, Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education, Hon. Prof. Kwesi Yankah, Chairman of the University Council, Dr. S. S. Yirenkyi, Vice Chancellor, Prof. J. S. Y. Kuma, the respected Member of Parliament and Municipal Chief Executive.
